Welcome in 2016!

Hello,

I would like to officially welcome All Blademasters (past, present and future ones) in this brand New Year!

For this year Cork Blademasters have prepared a new weapon curriculum: Dussack, a medieval training Sabre that we’ll use as a foundation level for all curved blade weapons (messers, falchions, sabres etc.,). We’ll kick off with a Dussack Seminar on Sat 30th of Jan 2016 with Jerzy Miklaszewski from Silkfencing Team (Krakow, Poland) as our guest instructor, then we’ll introduce Dussack Classes into our monthly schedule though Longsword would still be our primary weapon.

Longsword wise – more and more training and then tournaments, for this year I’m hoping to get all Scholars (rank 2) at least 2-3 tournaments under their belts so we have to start training as early as you can! Tournament season for us will start most likely in March and then will last until the end of Summer unless we’ll decide to go to Swordfish in October.  We’ll organize our own tournament too! Probably somewhere around April/May (to be confirmed!)

There’s more: Martial Arts Expo 2016 in February – we’ll organize a big ‘fight night’ or ‘fechtschule’ type of event hopefully with the help of the guys from other clubs too! 2 day Sidesword Seminar with Sala Achille Marozzo from Bologne, we’ll do more workshops and more courses this year!

Apart from that however, we’ll sweat as usual :) I’m working on a new, better, more dynamic warmup routine for our trainings so be prepared :D

Happy New Year!
